This years’ primary season included several candidates who claim to be Socialist Democrats. With Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee for President, he is embracing some of the policies of the far left members of the party. Evaluate what impact the enactment of socialist policies would have on our free enterprise capitalist system. Research information on the economies of European socialist nations and compare that to countries with a free enterprise economy. Be sure to review terms in the glossary on these topics and read the information in these chapters, as well as reviewing pages 342-346 in chapter 15 for the beginning of socialism. 1. Research socialist policies and a free enterprise system. Look specifically at cost of free health care (Medicare for all), free education, and other “free” services the government would offer. 2. Discuss with your classmates whether you believe this is the path our country should follow. Give specific reasons for your position. Include information on the cost to government of a new economic policy and the source of funding to pay for the governmental control, rather than individual initiative, of our free enterprise economic system. Your initial post should be 250 words. 3. Reply and discuss with at least 3 classmates. This a classroom discussion. Defend your opinion
